VAT and Our Status (Yes, it just gets worse.)

UPDATE (02/11/13):  There is a problem in the 4th floor management office with the monthly dues statements not being ready. The new due date is around end of the month as was relayed to me except those with interest since it is calculated on a daily basis. It seems the VAT is a major problem for the staff. The staff was also talking to someone on the phone about the problem referring to the person as "sir." That person said that is how it goes when they said they were having problems as the person relaying this to me overheard the staff restate the comment by "sir." The staff also chuckled or snorted at the direction given to them by "sir." The conversation also mentioned a meeting tomorrow (02/12/13) about the problem between 6:30-7:00PM.

It would seem all Unit Owners had better make sure that VAT is correctly calculated given this observation. Be extra vigilant in checking and looking over the amounts due as the staff's computations were coming up with different numbers. A Unit Owner in front of the person relaying this to me left before the staff realized that there was a miscalculation done on her account.

Perhaps some Unit Owners would want to observe the meeting and give input as to the VAT and our residential legal status and why no changes were ever made tomorrow.

(original web post 02/07/13):  Here are some links to think about since the failure of the developer controlled Board to give Unit Owners more control which would come with contact information for creation of a Homeowners Association. We pay for this situation in many ways and now VAT!

There were other articles giving parts but not all of the facts.

This is the ruling which gives the facts.

BIR clarifying VAT ruling

There was at least one strong advocate on this forum in the past encouraging us to form a Homeowners Association. The problem I have discussed and even added to one of our letters still not answered is that we do not have contact information for all Unit Owners. So the developer controlled board and those they groom have the advantage. I want all Unit Owner to remember this when and if voting were to take place legally for the Board.

I am also reminded of the calling for a Homeowners Association by one of the Unit Owner Board Members we never voted for in an election when they were a part of the Steering Committee. This committee was formed by only some Unit Owners at the time of turnover. That committee had several members turn over their positions since they left the area or moved out of the country from what I was told.

Anyway, this individual then changed their mind and supported the corporate structure. BUT, both may exist and now we see a financial reason for its existence.
