A 13-year-old girl died after suffering electric shock injuries at a landing in the middle of a swimming pool at a Mandaluyong condominium on Tuesday night, GMA News' “24 Oras” reported on Wednesday.

Pauline Pasion lungs sustained burns from the electrocution, an autopsy conducted on her showed.

The deadly incident took place at the pool of the Gateway Regency condominium.

"Nandun po yung anak ko sa gitna nung pool na may island na may puno. Dun siya sa gitnang-gitna, nangingisay po siya at tumitirik ang mata," Pauline's mother Anne told GMA News.

Anne said she tugged her daughter away from the landing despite getting electric shocks herself.

Pauline's siblings—Pearl, 16, and Paul, 12—were with her at the pool area.  They were also injured when the incident happened.

One of the condominium's security guards helped the family rush the victims to the hospital.

The siblings were invited to stay overnight at the condominium by one of their uncles.  They went to the pool for a swim around 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

By 7:25 p.m., Pauline was declared dead. An autopsy report indicated her burned lungs as the cause of her death.

"Parang siyempre hindi totoo 'yan. Hindi mo matatanggap," Anne said.

"Kawawa naman yung anak ko. Marami pa yung pangarap,” she added.

Pauline's grandmother Aida was grief-stricken. She just arrived in the country for a brief vacation.

"Nag-embrace si (Pauline) sa akin, sabi niya, 'Lola, bukas babalik ako, babalik rin ako bukas',” Aida said.

Mandaluyong Police P/Sr. Supt. Tyrone Masigon said investigators have been sent to the condominium to look into the cause of her electrocution.

GMA News tried to get the side of the building administration, but were barred from entering the premises. —Rie Takumi/NB/ELR, GMA News
